Frequently asked questions

Who gets a contextual offer at York?

Criteria vary by university and sometimes by course. Common factors include school performance, local area participation or deprivation data, care experience, and eligibility for free school meals or similar. University of York decides eligibility itself, so check its official page before assuming you qualify.

Is a contextual offer guaranteed?

No. A contextual offer is a lower grade requirement for eligible applicants who also meet the course's other requirements, such as required subjects. It does not guarantee an offer.

Where does this data come from?

Offers are taken from university course pages (data updated September 2026). Courses without a published contextual offer are not listed. Always confirm on the official page.
